Antoher hard, square run down building with messy, left behind scraps of infrastructure contrast the vandalised skip bin. I like the negative space of the concrete wall and how this space is wasted by the untidy concrete slabs and pipes.
I experimented with lighting in this shot. The harsh security floof light overwhelmed the top corner of this image but gives a sense of hierachy within the photograph. The skip sits overloaded in the harsh, cold cinderblock room. I was trying to capture how this room is now taken up by this rubbish bin and the space it takes up.
Again just experimenting with lighting. Using a flash to show a disposed of crate as it lies on a roof. I liked the contrasting colours and depth of field it created.
Using lighting again to try capture the mess on the surface and not drawing attention to the background of the image. I wanted to focus on the foreground and the space taken up by uncleaned, disregarded rubbish. I needed to focus on the objects better however.
Using a black and white image to try further the emotions of the spaces. I felt making them black and white enhanced the dull, dreary areas where waste is disposed.
After my second shoot of photographing ideas of space i have chosen to further look into the idea of waste disposal areas. While exploring witht the term space i found this subject the most intriging to me and i feel it shows in the photos i have taken and the areas i have focused on. The term disposal means the action or process of throwing away or getting rid of something. I photographed the areas in which waste is disposed, these areas were very unassuming but set a moody, silenced tone which i have tried to capture in my images. I tried to capture the different contrasting tones of certain areas and involve the natural light which inhanced the mood of the space.
I sought inspiration from was Robert Cartwright, His series of photographs on urban spaces inspired me in the direction i chose for my final photographs.
Using techniques i have learnt from tech lectures and precedent images to inpire me i want to create a series of photos that show my term "disposal" within the term space.
