DSDN144_panorama

This was my first test at a panorama image.I learnt alot about the process of making a panorama image and i now have a btter understanding on how to do it. Next time i will focus on making a btter panorama but getting the lighting right which will help alot when photoshoping the images together.

DSDN144_Project1_Space

Space.

I had 3 initial ideas on "space'' Rubbish, Sports facilities and the 3rd urban spaces.

For rubbish i wanted to capture various photographs of collective rubbish within the city, industrial rubbish as well as capturing the space inside rubbish bins. My aim is to show an impact that this rubbish is having on its surrounding environment and how much space rubbish creates, and in turn how space we create for this rubbish and a look into these wate areas and how they are creating rubbish themselves. Whilst i was taking photos on this subject i starting to look at and focus on not on rubbish but also areas around trhe city that wernt necisarely rubbish bins but areas of catchment for loose bits of rubbish eg, drains and pipes. i wanted to capture the space within theses areas and document them.

I also wanted to explore the term space more so i took a handful of shots of urban spaces to show space within a particular environment. From buildings with huge unused foyas to alleyways and courtyards, this was just my experimenting with photography and the term space.

DSDN144_Precedents_Research

For my precedents i chose a wide range of images from different photographers, as well as sketches and a music video. Each of the precedents shows a different way of looking at rubbish and a different tehnique of capturing it. Using these precedents i want to take a collective approach to my final series of photos and focus on a wide range of aspects associated with rubbish, the space they create and the shear waste of rubbish that we disgard.

DSDN_141

Experimenting with materials. For our first tutorial we were asked to find a range of different materials and bring them back to the workshop to basically smash them up to create something new and to see how the material could change bu experimenting with them. Here are a few pictures of my different materials once i had finished in the workshop.

This is a pinecone simply cut in half.

The cut in half pine cone flipped with the wood stripped back slightly and jabbing metal into it.

I also melted a strand of elastic using a heat gun.

Plaster smashed up then i took a file to it to try and give the surface a different texture.

A piece of metal from a binder. Smashed up by using a hammer and a lighter to melt the plastic.
